Compare proof versions

Comparing proofs versions can be done if you’re able to access more than one version of the proof. Here’s how.

Written by Gemma

If a proof has multiple versions, you can compare them side-by-side or use Smart Compare to automatically highlight differences.

You can:

  • Compare two different proofs or versions

  • Compare pages within the same proof

  • Add comments while comparing (if the latest version is still in review).

To compare proof versions

Step 1

Open the proof and click the compare icon at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2

Select the versions you’d like to compare. The proofs will display side-by-side.

Smart compare is available if you are comparing two static proofs.

Comments can be added in compare mode if the proof is in a status that allows commenting.

Helpful tools in compare mode

  • Link pages together.
If the proofs have multiple pages, you can link pages together and then navigate pages by clicking the link icon.

  • Switch proof positions.
Select the A/B icon to switch the position of proofs on screen.

  • Choose how to align the proofs when their dimensions differ.
If the proof sizes are different, you’ll be presented with a pop-up asking how you want to anchor the two proofs together:

When the proof dimensions are different, you'll be asked how you want to anchor them together

After you have selected your anchoring position, this can be changed on the smart compare screen by selecting the anchor position icon:

Changing the anchor position after it has been set

  • Compare different proofs.
You can also compare two different proofs – either via the dashboard, or by selecting compare different proof from the verison dropdown in the compare screen:

  • Review hidden changes with Smart Check
Smart Check in compare mode can reveal metadata differences such as fonts, color profiles, linked assets, dimensions, and Content Credentials.
