Explaining the role of a reviewer

A reviewer can be placed in any step of the workflow above the final step. They are someone who can add comments to the proof, and leave a decision. The proof will not wait in the workflow for a decision from a reviewer.

This role is typically used to invite someone to participate in the proofing process, but they are not a key stakeholder. Key stakeholders who must review the proof should be mandatory reviewers.

The reviewer role in a workflow step

Features of the reviewer role

  • Can use the red pen tool to add comments to the proof

  • Can leave a decision on the proof.

  • The proof will not wait for the reviewer to press the green finished button and leave their decision.

  • A reviewer who has not left their decision yet can be nudged by the proof owner, or another reviewer with the inviter permission.

Note

If a reviewer has also been given the inviter permission they can change their permission role.
